Antarctica is the coldest, highest, driest and windiest continent on Earth. The view in the picture is actually the best representation of the vast majority of the southern lands.

There's not many places in the world where the void can be as extreme. With the exception of some small details essentially comprising the Halley Base (perimeter drums, sledges, buildings, masts), all located within less than 2km radius, this is the view we have 360° around the horizon.
