The weather has improved significantly today before it deteriorated again in the evening. The wind dropped to 15kt, and the outside temperature was only -18°C. This meant I was able to go out to one of the Cabooses to do some work on a piece of equipment, which I've been waiting with for the weather to improve.

On the way out, I've noticed how sastrugi create interesting and abstract shapes, especially when lit by the harsh light from the sun.

In the picture is a single specimen of sastrugi, with the sharp ridge facing the direction of the wind. Over time, these ridges build up on the top, and erode at the base, creating these overhanging pointy shapes. Also visible are ice crystals close to the snow surface, blowing with the wind.
