Light pillars

Light pillar is an atmospheric optical phenomenon caused by ice crystals suspended in the atmosphere refracting the light in a way that creates vertical columns of light extending both above and below the light source. The ice crystals responsible for light pillars usually have a hexagonal shape and are oriented horizontally, causing the reflection to appear as a vertical shaft of light.
