Fun with Heavy Metal

Working in Antarctica means no two days are the same, and one gets an opportunity to do things otherwise completely out of reach. We were tasked with placing 15 massive steel beams, used to brace the Halley VI station legs during the annual module raise, on top of the so called Test Sledge, which functions as one of the storage places. In order to complete the job, we used the Nodwell with a crane, as well as a set of lifting strops and shackles. In the picture the crane operator has just placed a set of beams on top of the Test Sledge, and a Station General Assistant disconnects the strops.
