The Halley Station consists of eight modules. North to South, these are: two accommodation modules; the command module with the comms office and surgery; the main module with the dining room, bar, TV room and the gym; two technical modules, containing the generators, water and fuel tanks, and sewage treatment plant, with a bridge in between; and finally two science modules, one with office space, and the other one with labs. The bridge functions as the fire barrier, therefore providing some redundancy in case some modules can't be used (e.g. because of fire), but also gives everyone an opportunity to be outside even if just for the time it takes to walk across.
