Start of Midwinter Week and Happy Birthday Me!

This Saturday marks the beginning of the Midwinter Week, and also, as it happens, my second Antarctic birthday!

Midwinter is the most important day for all Antarctic stations. Each station will celebrate it slightly differently - in case of Halley there's going to be a few drinks and a proper nice meal. We've also been making gifts for each other and on the midwinter day each of us will give their present to the person whose name they drew from a hat at the beginning of winter. There are a few attractions planned for the whole week and we've started with a pub crawl.
