The sun is back!

After one hundred and three days of darkness, today we've had the first sunrise. We didn't see it though, as the sky was completely overcast. For the last three days we've had relentless non-stop 40 knots blow. The wind dropped for about an hour to 10 knots, just around the time of the sunrise. This gave us a chance to go to the roof of the station and raise the new flag. Following the BAS tradition, our youngest member of the team, Ross (Halley Electronics Engineer) put the flag up and gave a speech. Shortly after the wind picked up again and it's now back to 35 knots or so. An interesting fact - as the result of the wind, the outside temperature climbed up to -5.9°C (and quite possibly will go up even more). Proper summer time!
