Testing connectivity to remote site

324/366

Halley Electronics Engineer Ricardo coordinating connectivity tests to remote Lifetime of Halley experiment after it has been raised to counteract the annual snow accumulation.

To allow access to the data collected by the GPS station monitoring the movement of the Brunt Ice Shelf, each of the sites connect to Halley using wireless VHF modems. A server at the Halley Modules connects to each of the sites once a day using its own VHF modem and downloads the data for that day as well as any older data not previously downloaded. This data is then processed and analysed to establish the movement of the ice shelf.
