Sun Down

121/366

One of the big days in the Halley Winterer's calendar is the Sun Down, which is the day when the Sun sets for the last time in the season. As of today, for the next 103 days, the Sun will be permanently below the horizon and we won't see any Sunrises or Sunsets. In just a couple more weeks, we will also be in perpetual 24/7 darkness, which will last around 8 weeks.

It is the tradition at Halley, that at Sun Down, the oldest member of the Wintering Team, lowers the flag off the mast. When the Sun comes back in over 3 months time, it will be the youngest member of the team who will raise the flag again.
