Last night was very clear and quite cold. The outside temperature was hovering around -33°C with 12 knots of wind bringing the wind chill to a fresh -48°C. The stars and a faint aurora (not visible on this image, as the camera is facing north) more than made up for the cold though!
This image is a composite of two individual pictures - one exposed for the sky and one for the ground and the base; both images were then blended together in post.
Visible in the image are the Halley Modules with the Milky Way overhead. In addition, a satellite trail can be seen crossing the Milky Way on its way towards the North Pole.
