Feeding the Giant Centipede

Being so isolated from the world, Halley Station needs to be completely self sufficient. One of the implications is the station needs to generate its own electricity and heat (to run the scientific instruments, to produce water, to provide living conditions for the crew), which requires fuel. There are three 10 cubic metres fuel tanks on station, which store enough fuel to last a few weeks. Every so often, these have to be topped up and for this Matt (Generator Mechanic) takes the Dozer to the fuel line and brings one of the bulk tanks (pictured above) next to the modules. Then, a hose is connected between the station and the bulk tank via the Dozer, and using the pump that's built into the Dozer the fuel is pumped into the fuel tank. The piping internal to the station allows the fuel to be transferred between the three tanks to distribute it to the four generators.
