Evening Watch

231/366

To ensure everyone's safety, there's a system of watches put in place at Halley and the Modules are never left unmanned. During the day, the person on gash (cleaning duty) is generally making sure everyone is accounted for, people have come back from wherever they have been at or before the time they were signed out till, and in case of any alarms that person will usually be the first to coordinate whatever emergency response is required.

In the evening, after the gash is over, the evening watch takes over. Similarly to the gashman, the person on evening watch will make sure everyone is back on the modules and accounted for. In addition, before going to bed, one of their final tasks is to do the rounds - a check of all plant rooms and station facilities to make sure there's no leaks or any other obvious issues.

In the picture, the Halley Mechanical Services Technician David is going across the bridge in 25 knot wind, after checking out the Science Modules.
