Shortly after sunrise we were greeted with a very distorted view of the sun. Layers of air at varied temperatures cause the sun light to refract, creating this interestingly distorted image. As it was relatively windy when the image was taken, the ice particles suspended in the air also reduce the visibility and introduce "haze", making everything in the distance appear blurred and soft.
Outside temperature: -36°C with 16 knots of easterly wind bringing the wind chill to -54°C.
