CASLab is a Clean Air Sector Laboratory facility, which is located in a building situated about 1.5km from the main Modules, inside the Clean Air Sector. In and around the CASLab building is a suite of experiments focusing on the chemistry of the lowest parts of the atmosphere and interactions between the snow surface and the air.

The distance between CASLab and the main modules is there to ensure the surrounding air is as free from any influence the station might have as possible.

It is in the CASLab that the measurements of the amound of CO2 in the atmosphere are taken, among other things, and a couple of weeks ago, as published by BAS and other Antarctic Programmes, it was in the CASLab that we've registered the level of CO2 exceeding 400ppm for the first time.
