Penguins are inquisitive
Day 1 of my second winter trip.
The second round of Winter Trips started about a month ago, and this week, during the final trip, it is my turn to go off base, along with Mat, Ross and Greig.
We started the trip with a visit to the Windy Bay caboose and that same evening we abseiled down off the ice shelf onto the sea ice, to see our closest neighbours, the Emperor Penguins.
This shot is from a GoPro camera, which I placed on the snow a few meters in front of a group of penguins, and stepped back away from. In less than two minutes, they wandered over, very intrigued by the camera, and started investigating it very closely.
